What do you want to know?

New to Boy Scouting? Just arrived from Cubs? It's a confusing transition -- let those who've "been there, done that" lend a hand!

What do you want to know?

Postby chuck » January 10th, 2010, 2:27 pm

I am putting together our website's "New Scout/Parent Center" and need your help. What kind of information would be most helpful to have there? What are the kinds of things you'd like to know? Please reply to this post and let me know what information you think would best help new scouts and their parents.

Thanks!

Chuck,
Having A direct link to Vertus or current Diocees site to get certified. Also link to schedule adult scout leader training and a checklist of all requirements. This will help all Weblo II adults get a good headstart so they will be prpared for the first campout.

Great ideas, Bruce -- thanks. There is a list of training requirements here, but adding a link to the new parent page is a terrific suggestion. I am also in the process of adding links to each of the training requirements, so I'll make sure there's one that goes to Virtus.

Thanks again!

How about a Jambo forum section and a Philmont forum section? As those two events draw closer, we will need to get a ton of info to the boys and their families. The Jambo troop may have its own website, but I think that Troop 200 parents will look here first.

There's already a Philmont section in the forum (along with one for Summer Camp). I hadn't thought about adding a Jambo Forum to the Troop 200 site, but it's easy enough to do.

Thanks for the suggestions!

The only add-on module I've seen so far to do spell checking also inserts ads onto the page. I'll look into it, but you may be on your own. Doesn't Windows come with a system-level spell checker? That should work fine. (I just tested it on my Mac and it works there.)
