Get in the 'Geocaching' Game: January 2nd at Washington Crossing State Park
Published on December 8, 2009 | Print | Email | Tweet | Add to Facebook

This is an event to learn about geocaching, which is a high-tech treasure hunt.

National BSA has created "Get in the Game" to celebrate our 100th Anniversary as a way to get more boys outdoors. So bring the troop, pack, den or patrol or come as an individual family.

  • You will learn how to program a GPS unit
  • You will search out local geocaches
  • You will learn what to do to hide a cach
  • You will learn about travel bugs and other track-ables
  • We will be launching 5 special "Pillars of Scouting" travel bugs
Geocachers from Central Jersey Geocachers Club will be on hand to answer any other questions you might have. There may also be some geocaching items for sale that include ammo cans, travel bug tags and geocoins.

Please bring your own lunch and a can of either chicken noodle soup or vegetarian vegetable. We will have hot soup available all day along with other hot beverages that include coffee, tea, hot cocoa and apple cider.

Please see the email that was sent to the Troop list on December 8th for contact information or see Mr. La Tournous.

You don't need to be at the event the whole time, but you can stay all day and have fun. The information sessions will be repeated throughout the event.
